Dr. Poynter is one of the best I've had in quite some time. His patience and understanding is top tier. I look forward to every appointment. The staff in the office are great as well. A wonderful office to be in.

I could never in good faith recommend Dr. Pointer to anyone. I saw him for years and it started out fine, but got worse and worse over time. For back story, I am overweight, but otherwise in pretty good health. The primary topic of my visits has always been weight loss and maintenance. Unfortunately, Dr. Pointer will only recommend counting calories and exercise. If that doesn't work for you. He tells you that you aren't doing it right or well enough. He will never consider that maybe there is a different problem or maybe you just need something to jump start your metabolism or your weight loss journey. I get that he lost a lot of weight himself and that he has a Degree and tons of training, but not every single person is the same. Additionally on 3 separate occasions I had a major issue with him. 1. I put in a refill request for my gout medication. I was having a severe flair up and needed it. I show up to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription only ro be told my Dr. called to cancel it. He didn't email me, call me, message thro8gh my chart or anything. Then he wouldn't take any accountability for it at all. 2. I asked him if he thought I would be a candidate for a GLP-1. I need to lose weight, but i feel like I need a boost to get things started and then I will be ok. He tells me he never prescribes a GLP-1 for weight loss and that I need to focus on counting calories. Like clearly that is not working, can we not just try something new? If he told me no and justified it, then I'd be fine, but it was the way I was told no with no real care for me at all. 3. I asked him a general story about a possible muscle sprain and if pain could be delayed. I tried to give a little back story as i felt that was important, only to be told that he didn't have time to listen and was there a question? He was in and out in 5 minutes. Bottom line, if you are skinny and good health and just need a primary, he may be fine for that. If you have struggled with weight loss, stay clear of Dr. Poynter as he only has 1 generic solution and will never ever budge or even consider there could be something more that could be done. Lastly, prepare to be another number and not be given the time of day, but to be rushed in and out of the room with no care in the world.

I admittedly have a hard time trusting doctors in the area with how many times I’ve not been listened to and just pushed out the door over anxiety being in my chart but Dr. Poynter isn’t one of those doctors. He takes time to actually listen and wants to help get to the bottom of the issue with you. I don’t feel rushed when in the office and I feel respected by him and his staff. Thank yall for all yall do.
